Hi, I'm Becca

It’s 2025, and the content landscape has never been more saturated, or more misunderstood. Scroll for five seconds and you’ll see creators and marketers talking about how hard it is to get your content seen these days (especially without paying for it). But what’s not being talked about enough? The content mistakes that are making it even harder.

There are creators, founders, marketers, and even agencies pumping out post after post, video after video, believing more is more and telling you more is more. But if you’ve been in the game for more than five minutes, you know this truth in your bones:

Content that works isn’t louder, it’s smarter.

And yet, I see the same content mistakes, repeated patterns, over and over again in clients I work with. Whether you’re building a personal brand, scaling a service-based business, or creating content for others, these common content mistakes are keeping you stuck in the scroll zone instead of getting seen, saved, and shared by the right people.

So, let’s break this down together. Here are the 10 biggest content mistakes creators are still making in 2025, and what you can do differently starting today to get a different result.

1. Creating Without A Content Strategy

If your content has no clear intention, you’re not creating, you’re reacting.

I can’t tell you how many founders I’ve worked with who are posting just to “stay active” and keep up with an ever changing algorithm without ever connecting the dots between their offer, their audience, and their message. They’re exhausted from the treadmill, but don’t know how to get off.

If that’s you? You don’t need to do more. You need a content strategy that makes everything you create count. That means taking current content and making it work much harder for you, or even going back and repurposing content that you shared that is evergreen Get that back into your rotation, breathe new life into it like tweaking the caption, updating the creative or even adding a different CTA.

And yes, this is what we do inside my Content Reset Audit. We untangle what’s working, what’s not, and what you can do immediately to shift your content from chaotic to clear. Link to book

2. Talking At People Instead Of Connecting With Them

Another mistake I see all the time: creators and business owners crafting content that’s all about them.

Their story. Their brand. Their win. Their framework. (Yawn.) Your audience is the hero. Your content should meet them where they are. Mirror their doubts. Name their desires. Validate their stuckness and show them a new way.

I’ve worked with powerhouse women who’ve built 6- and 7-figure businesses but still struggle with this one. Not because they don’t care about their people, but because everyone talks about sharing your story. And they’re not wrong. But there needs to be a blend of story and support. Sharing too much about you that doesn’t connect back to how you help your desired clients will leave them feeling the ick. And ultimately, she will scroll onward.

3. Confusing Volume With Value

I’m gonna say it: posting more does not mean growing faster. In fact, more content often = more noise. There I said it. What moves the needle isn’t “more posts” it’s clear messaging. Clear, consistent visibility on the right platforms for your brand is what moves the needle.

This is exactly what I had to relearn after I came out of burnout in my own business. I had shut everything down—twice—and when I came back, I promised myself I wouldn’t create for the sake of staying visible. I would create to serve. To lead. And to build something that felt like me.

4. Underestimating The Power Of Repurposing

If I had a dollar for every time someone said, “I don’t know what to post,” I could retire. Most people are sitting on a goldmine of content, they just don’t know how to repurpose it. You have a lot of content already created, but we’re told we need to keep up with trends, audio that helps you go viral, and the shininess of social media especially has us addicted to the chase. In my professional opinion, one of the biggest content mistakes is you’re not repurposing, which means you’re wasting creative energy.

5. Ignoring SEO And Search-Based Platforms

Instagram is great for brand awareness and storytelling. But it’s not your long game. Pinterest, YouTube, and blog content are where real, sustainable growth lives in 2025. It’s how your content gets found while you sleep. How people discover you months later. How your site traffic and email list grow without burning out your nervous system.

And no, you don’t have to be an SEO pro to make this work. But you do need a strategy that includes search-first content that lives beyond the scroll.

6. Playing It Too Safe With Your Voice

This one stings a little. Because I used to do it, too. When I first got back online after my hiatus, I felt shaky. Would people judge my story? Would I lose momentum? Would I be seen as “too much” or “not enough”? But here’s what I learned: playing it safe with your content keeps you forgettable. The content that sticks is bold. Specific. Honest. Yours.

Don’t water down your brilliance to be palatable. Say what you actually think. Tell the story you’re scared to tell. Share the perspective that makes someone stop and feel something. Your personal brand will never be built from safe content.

7. Over-Relying On AI Without Adding Soul

Listen, I love AI. It’s a tool we use all the time with clients to speed things up and brainstorm fast. But it’s just that—a tool. If you copy/paste from AI without adding your voice, your values, and your vibe, your content will feel like a knockoff version of everyone else’s. The human-to-human connection is what builds trust. And in 2025, trust is your greatest brand currency.

8. Measuring The Wrong Metrics

Raise your hand if you’ve ever gotten too caught up in likes, views, or follower counts. Ugh, I’ve been there, too. Your most powerful content often doesn’t get the most engagement, but it does get the most traction with the right people. A podcast episode that leads to three DMs from aligned clients is way more valuable than a reel that goes viral with the wrong audience. If you’re only measuring “likes,” you’re not measuring what matters.

9. Trying To Do It All Alone

This one is personal. For years, I built content for clients behind the scenes. I knew how to build strategy, write captivating copy, and grow online presence, but when it came to my own content, I was always last on the list. I thought I had to do it all alone.

And maybe you do, too. But what I’ve learned, and what I see in my clients, is that the fastest path to aligned, effective content isn’t DIYing it forever. It’s getting the support to build systems that save your energy and elevate your voice.

Whether that’s a done-for-you solution, a monthly content plan, or just a one-time audit—you don’t have to keep spinning your wheels to stay visible.

Ready To Stop Making Common Content Strategy Mistakes?

When I say I’ve seen these mistakes over and over, it’s not from the sidelines, it’s from the trenches. I’ve made them. I’ve learned from them. And I’ve helped clients untangle the same patterns so they can finally show up with clarity, not chaos.

You don’t need to post more. You don’t need to overhaul everything.
You just need a smarter way to use what you already have.

That’s exactly what we do inside The Content Reset. I take your existing content—your blog, podcast, or social posts—and turn it into a custom 30-day visibility plan that actually works. Clear, doable, strategic and built around your voice, not someone else’s formula.

If you’re creating all the time but still feel exhausted, this is your next move. Book your Content Reset.
